So much for spring directly into midsummer heat

90 degrees! All the spring bulbs and blossoming trees are swooning.

The Lee Gardens, a spring ephemeral and azelea garden, on Chichester Road in New Canaan should be coming along rapidly. It is usually peak on Mothers Day, but might be ahead of that this year.

The State of Spring

Peepers were heard on March 17, but spring is elusive and seems still far away.
Swamp and sugar maples are red with flowers, but I wonder if there are any honeybees to forage. The ground under these trees is littered with small branches as the squirrels chew them off, for the sap??
Forsythia is slowly emerging, the willows are yellowing and cherries can not hold back the swelling of their buds. If we were to have 2 warm and sunny days in a row everything would really open.
